Squarrose clover is a plant suited to Mediterranean climates and environments, which however also resists lower temperatures.

It's a non re-sprouting plant that only produces one crop. When compared with crimson clover, squarrose clover is bigger in size and has more leaves, giving a better yield of green mass.

The recommended use for this foraging clover is the direct consumption grass meadow, provided that the crop is harvested at the beginning and during flowering. It may also be used as a green manure plant, in which case the crop must be cut while in full flower.

Squarrose clover adapts well to clay soils and sandy soils, but it does not tolerate humid and limy soils.

When preparing the seed bed, the soil does not need to be worked very deeply and must subsequently be brought to a fine texture. Sowing is carried out in autumn, both mechanically and by scattering, at a depth of approximately 1-2 cm. The recommended seed ratio is 30-40 kg/ha in monophyte meadows, and 15-25 kg in poliphyte meadows.
